I don’t know about you but I love a good party! The smell of sugar and melting candles, cheerfully singing and being surrounded by friends and family and then …………..there is the birthday cake! Join me at an awesome birthday party to celebrate Frederick Douglass on Feb. 13-14, 2015. There are events scheduled throughout the entire community of historic Anacostia to include Douglass re-enactments, a genealogy workshop, book talk with Dianne Dale, a walking tour of Historic Anacostia, tours of Cedar Hill, a scrap booking workshop and an on-going presentation showing participants to preserve old home movies. Feel free to bring on old home movie and it will be seen on a screen for all to see!
Friday, Feb. 13, 2015:
-Special tour of the Archival Collection at the Anacostia Community Museum to include Douglass artifacts
-An actual birthday party for Frederick Douglass with light refreshments and a dj
Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015
-The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Anacostia Arts Center at 10:30 am. Residents and visitors can expect presenters, performances by the 2014 Douglass Oratorical Contest winners with music provided by the Jubilee Singers.
